DAVID DOYLE
-
David Doyle is a Barkindji artist, cultural educator, and researcher committed to Barkindji cultural revival, oral history-based truth-telling, and the decolonisation of archives and museum collections. His work repositions Aboriginal community knowledge at the centre of historical narratives through a practice grounded in Elder teachings, land-based research, artefact study, and community consultation. His contributions span heritage protection, education, archaeology, and interdisciplinary research, ensuring that Barkindji knowledge continues to shape both community development and national understanding.
‘I use materials from the Baaka in most of my sculptures because I’m making something that’s part of myself, part of my culture and my history’
