Kate Rohde's artwork and functional pieces are jointly inspired by an intersecting love of natural history and the ornate decorative arts spanning several eras, including perhaps most notably the Rococo era.

"I'm drawn to ornamental and traditional craftmaking that is reworked in contemporary ways. This vase at first glance suggests an oriental influence with the jade-like resin. On closer inspection, everything is slightly off, imperfect. It feels like I'm looking at an antique from the past, but perhaps from an alien or parallel dimension."
