Additional Info

The work is based on the Bothrops jararaca. A species of snake that although can be fatal, has been quoted to have saved more lives than any other animal due to the use of its venom in medicine.

All the scales were individually sculpted and then applied to the body - the head scales were a combination of applied and carved into the clay.
Natalie Ryan wanted to do it this way to mimic the way the scales sit on the body of the snake in real life.
